Consider Helping our Cause
The Northern Virginia Fall Prevention Coalition (NVFPC) needs your help to reduce falls and related injuries to our elders. Falls are the leading cause of injury deaths and non-fatal injuries for persons 65 and older.
Our primary focus is to improve on the existing resources of the public health practitioners at the state level, address the need for additional intervention services, take visible positions on proposed legislation impacting our elders, identify and promote all services that advocate long range planning for positive change and quality of life.
The NVFPC delivers its programs and services through the participation of local businesses and a state wide network of chapters and community-based support groups throughout Northern VA.
Your donation will go towards programs promoting community awareness about fall risk factors and ways to reduce these risks.
NVFPC is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contributions, such as donations and membership fees, may be deductible for income tax purposes. Please check with your tax advisor.

Fall Prevention Checklist
- Move furniture so your path through every room is clear.
- Remove throw rugs or use double-sided tape or a non-slip backing so rugs won’t slip.
- Coil or tape cords and wires next to the wall so you can’t trip over them. If needed, have an electrician put in another outlet.
- Always keep objects off stairs.
- Have an electrician put in an overhead light at the top and bottom of the stairs.
- Put in a night-light so you can see where you’re walking at night. Some night-lights go on by themselves after dark.
- Exercise regularly. Exercise makes you stronger and improves your balance and coordination.
